I don't even remember being reproved. My parents were wise and sensitive about when to correct me and when to let me learn my own lessons, though, and after all, I had handled it well and had made reasonable decisions about where to go, etc. Anthony and I also commonly wandered afar together when our families were visiting each other, so I think they knew that we would find them eventually.
That said, my mom was probably at least a little worried, but just hid it from me!

Me, too. It's one of those things that you only appreciate after you become the parent: how personally hard it is to let your children grow.
