Thank you, Rachel! That's good to know about what grade-range is most interesting to you. I have preschool through middle school kids in my house right now!
I love good children’s literature- as a treat for myself and to give to all the godchildren! It’s always helpful to hear recommendations from people who seem to share similar measures of what makes a book good (I love the Read Aloud Revival podcast for that reason) so please do keep sharing! This title was new to me and I’ll be sharing with friends.
Oh, wonderful! Yes, I didn't know about it, either, until a couple of years ago. I found out that MacDonald wrote for adults, too (I had no idea!) and so I decided to try to find a list of *all* her books and then I discovered Nancy and Plum. Such a treasure of a book!
Please feel free to e-mail me if you ever come across a particularly good, lesser-known book! I'd love to hear your recommendations.
I'm all about the kid book recommendations! We love our fairy tales and myths, but I would be very grateful for some discriminating (but still enthusiastic) recs. for more modern literature. Can't say enough about good orphan stories!
I loved orphan stories when I was a kid! It seems like a universal -- children love them, adults love them. I'm sure there's been plenty of literary essays written about this! I should look it up!
Oh wonderful thank you Dixie! I haven't heard of this. Yes, please keep sharing quick book notes!!!
Oh, thanks Marie! I bet your Clare would love it!
Would love more book recommendations! Especially upper elementary/middle grade reads!

Ok, this is new one for me! Off to find a copy for my voracious 8-year-old reader . . .
And yes! series would be great! I think we've found all the hidden gems at our local library. New recs would be very helpful. :)
Let me know how she likes it! I thought this was a very cozy and fun book.
Oh yes please more book recommendations!
Be careful what you wish for. You know me and books!
